Macy Eide Olympic Journey to Roana

Lots of people dream of going to the Olympics, Macy Eide wrote down her dream at the age of 14 in 2014. On Mother's Day 2018, Macy received the call of a lifetime! She was invited to join Team USA at the Jr. Olympics.
Due to an unforeseen rostered player change in early May, Macy was asked to step in on very short notice. Although an unexpected way to enter the Olympics, Macy's dream of becoming an Olympian came true 4 years later. She now is on a Journey to Roana, Italy to participate in the 2018 Jr. Olympics in July (7/18-7/29/18). The added cost of equipment, travel/hotel, and meals for her and family to participate is high. In order to keep costs low, Macy reached out to her Desert Vista hockey family who has donated some of her equipment since ice hockey and inline hockey require different equipment.
Macy, who is a goaltender, played girls hockey in her hometown of Andover, Minnesota until moving her junior year of high school in 2016 to (Ahwatukee) Phoenix, AZ where she joined an all boys high school team in order to continue playing the sport she loves with the goal of playing in college. Macy's 1st year on the boys team ended in winning the D3 Arizona State Championship and being awarded the MVP award. In February, the team made another state run that ended one game away from the championship after a 15-2-3 season.
Macy's dream of playing in college came true last New Year's Eve, Macy received an invitation from the ASU Women's Hockey team to become a Sun Devil and join them in the Fall of 2018. Macy just completed H.S. and the Physical Therapy Assistant program to pursue her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The ASU team is not an NCAA member which means the college does not fund the sport. The players must individually support themselves at a cost of $4,000/yr. Not letting that get in the way, Macy has worked part-time as a hostess through high school and has picked up a 2nd job at the local ice rink.
Thanks to her high school teammates and Chandler Ice Rink who have donated some of her equipment. Macy can accept donations and business sponsorships to reach her goal.
