Journalism Internship in Madrid

Donation protected
I’m a journalist. Well, more specifically, a college kid going into her senior year of college to become a journalist. I’m an Honors Student at the University of Texas at Tyler, and I’m ready to be free of college a get out into society and start working in a career field I love, instead of retail.  To do this, I’m required to have an internship.
An incredible opportunity fell into my lap a few days ago. Meaning, I found this internship on a Thursday, applied for it on Friday, had an interview on Saturday, and got accepted on Monday. Crazy fast, right? My head is still spinning. The internship is possibly a young jornalist’s biggest dream (and by young journalist I do mean me).
This internship, hosted by ROOSTER Global News Network, invites college students like myself to join them overseas in Madrid, Spain, for two weeks to study under the tutelage of mentors in the journalism field. We’re talking big-name, experienced journalists; people who work for Getty Images, Associated Press, The New York Times!
Full disclosure, I cried when I got accepted.
So far, all of it is a dream come true. The issue is that as a college student, I’m also subjected to PBCS syndrome. Or, Poor-Broke College student disease, and this trip costs $3000 without the flight included.
I know what you’re thinkig. An international internship? In this economy? I know, I’m a little crazy. But more than anything, I want this internship.
My passion in life has always been travel and asking questions. I’ve always called myself an explorer, and journalism is the closest career I’ve found that lines up with my hopes and dreams. This internship gives me an opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world, a city that is so full of culture, and explore it, then publish my work and improve my skills as a journalist. People who have graduated from this internship have gone to work for the Huffington Post, The New Yorker, and even National Geographic (which is, of course, my DREAM!) I cannot overstate how much this opportunity means to me. I’m raising money for the trip and for the flight. Anything you could give would be a appreciated, and I am more than happy to keep everyone updated on the incredible experiences you will have helped me get.
