Josh's Brain Tumor

Donation protected

I am setting up this “Go Fund Me” account for my dearest son in law, Josh,  and his sweet family, including my precious daughter and their two amazing sons.

On January 26th, 2016, late in the evening, Josh suffered a massive seizure and went down in his family’s home kitchen. For several minutes he was unable to call out for help.   When he was finally able to call for help he called for his eldest 16 year old son who then went and got my daughter.  When my daughter and their 16 yr. old son came to him, he had no mobility on the left side of his body. My daughter immediately called 911.  The paramedics arrived and transported him to the Davis Medical Center Emergency Room.

The Emergency physician ordered many tests one being an MRI which showed a large brain tumor in the right hemisphere of his brain. In complete shock, Josh and my daughter held each other shedding tears of unbelief.  The tears were not only for the diagnosis but the fact that Josh and my daughter Did Not have any Medical Insurance.

Josh was then transported by ambulance to the University of Utah Hospital Neuro Critical Care Unit. The seizure medication that he was started on was not helping so the team of neuro surgeons requested a team of neurologists to increase and add other medications to stop the seizures and tremors.  He was also put on a steroid to reduce the swelling in his brain which was causing the seizures. He needed to be seizure free so they can perform the necessary Functional MRI Brain Activity Test to determine the most critical and safe way to remove the brain tumor.  The brain tumor removal surgery was done on February 5th, 2016.  The evening after surgery Josh had crashed and there was a time of serious panic as the crash cart was brought in.  He was in ICU for 3 days.   Josh is now in rehabilitation therapy to regain function of his paralyzed left side and to help with the PTSD panic.  He is receiving meds to help with the small seizures and tremors and to calm him.

Josh and my daughter are not strangers to trails in their life.  They have experienced and overcome many heartaches.  Their oldest son has 40% hearing loss. Their youngest son has Aspergers High Functioning Autism.  My daughter suffered a broken back and had Spinal Fusion Surgery performed removing bone from her hip to complete the fusion.  Their family has struggled financially, but through it all, they have always moved forward with hope and perseverance.  All that they have worked so hard for is now at risk.  Josh will be unable to return to work for an unknown period of time.

I am opening this “Go Fund Me” account for Josh and his sweet family to help them in any way possible to be able to provide for their family, take care of their obligations, and meet the surmounting Medical Bills that have occurred since January 26th and will continue to occur throughout  treatment, rehabilitation and continued care.

I ask, with all my love, that those who are able will find it in your hearts to donate to this Go Fund Me account for Josh.

With deepest appreciation to all of you,
