Hello my name is Joshua. Former baker and video gamer. I have been recovering from Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) since November 2014. It left me completely paralyzed and I almost died. Thankfully I have came a long way and have made a lot of progress, but I still have a ways to go. I'm hopeful I will walk again, although I am still relying on a wheelchair at the moment. Which is the reason I am here today asking for help.
I have been waiting to do an official Go Fund Me until I had something specific in mind, and I figure this is the time. I was in a accident back in January ( on my birthday no less). My wheelchair has been having all sorts of trouble holding a charge, and I was out testing the "newest" battery when it started to fail. So I turn around and head back, admittedly pretty frustrated as I was hoping to meet my girlfriend later that day. I enter the crosswalk ,which I had the walk sign for, and as soon as I start to enter a car made a right turn and I couldn't stop in time and I slammed into the back of his car.
Long story short I was pretty much okay but the wheelchair took some damage. The driver's Insurance Company however said I was at fault and they would not be compensating me at all or repairing the wheelchair. Anyways I'm not here to argue who screwed up, I am asking for assistance for the labor charge on the wheelchair repair. My father has agreed to pay for the parts which come to about $530, but that's about all he can afford. The original estimate came to over $2000, but I'm just trying to fix the main issue which is a bent piece that is pushing one of my wheels out of alignment. I can still get around in the chair okay but if I don't address this issue I could eventually burn out my motor.
I just got the revised estimate yesterday. I am hoping that I can figure this out in the next couple weeks as my father is going to be retiring and we need to sort this out before he heads out of state. So May 19th or around there.
