Wanted: Champions for Jo’s Gallery

Hello Friends and Family of Jo’s Gallery,

We know Detroit is a city of strong traditions. Jo’s Gallery works hard to safeguard such traditions. We’re constructing a legacy for our honored patrons—past, present and future, here on the Livernois Avenue of Fashion. We aim to achieve great things, but we need family, friends, and especially colleagues of the late JoAnn (Jo) Griffin, to rally support for our mission by becoming a Champion for Jo’s Gallery.

Jo’s Gallery offers an environment where friends, guests and patrons feel right at home, lingering a while.  We are a hub of camaraderie and creative energy, highlighting new, emerging and established African American and International artists. Our artists are showing high quality collectibles, original paintings, serigraphs, giclees, and hand crafted gift items. Jo’s will surround you with exciting visual images that invigorate your senses, stimulate curiosity and spark your interest in fine arts and artists.

We’ve been collecting, exhibiting and supporting various artists for 20-years. However, Jo’s Gallery is now facing a major hurdle.   We must close the estate of the late JoAnn Griffin and pay off the property. We also aim to reopen Jo’s Gallery Café, by fall 2016.  So this is a clarion call for each of you to spread the word, support our cause, make a financial contribution, shop, and encourage your family, friends and colleagues to join us. Help us preserve JoAnn Griffin’s legacy.  Her love for fine arts transcended money and the business of art. As an innovative entrepreneur, her heart and traditions honors the Detroit community.

Jo’s Gallery appreciates you.  We encourage you to visit us soon. Peruse our collection from the estates of William Tolliver and Annie Lee. Meet Watercolorist, Adwoa Muwzea, Multi-media artist, Michael Horner, Collagist, Judy Bowman, Bead Master, Lynette Gibson, Painters, Alex P., Eric Pasha and Veteran, Professional Oil Painter, LaShun Beal.

Offer Jo’s Gallery a love gift of $100, $250, $500, up to $5,000. Then select an item of equal value from our Legacy Wall—a collection of original works by artists on exhibit at Jo’s Gallery—to support our next generation goals. Your support is needed and valued by the entire staff.  When you become a Champion for Jo’s Gallery, your name will be placed on the Champions for Jo’s Plaque, which will be prominently displayed in the store.

YOU can become a Champion for Jo’s Gallery!  Time is of the essence.  Our financial goals, to pay off the building and open the Café, is $125,000.   This campaign is March 30, 2016 through April 30, 2016.

We're celebrating my daughter Gabrielle's 10th birthday at the gallery, during the Tolliver Estate sale in March 2016. Gabby (standing in front of Mari) was not impressed.  So the real Birthday party was the next day.  LOL!  She's still our 3rd generation, gallery-owner-in-training.

We're serving our cafe patrons one busy day at the Cafe, which started out as a Pop-up in 2015.
