Joni Ewing--Wake, Pray, Slay

It takes a village to raise a child, to help a parent, to teach a student. We all have people in our village that serve as pillars to hold up your corner of the world. You might not always notice them, but they are constantly serving the community with their strength. Joni Ewing is a pillar for many villages. She is an unending source of support for her family, friends, and coworkers, and so often her strength reaches into the lives of their kids, church friends, and people she may never meet.


Now Joni, our sweet sister in Christ, is in need of her village. In June, Joni was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer - Peritoneal Mesothelioma. Her battle officially began with surgery on  June 26 in Wichita, but it will need to continue at the MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas for additional surgery  and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. There will be two trips to Houston for Joni and her husband with a combined stay of approximately one month.


To know Joni is to know her unending grace and her willingness to help those in need. Beyond medical expenses, her upcoming battle with this horrible disease will incur expenses one shouldn’t have to think about when fighting for their life - transportation, hotel, and food to name a few.
