No-Shave November Prostate Cancer Fundraiser

For this No-Shave November, multiple students like myself in the UAMS College of Medicine, Class of 2022, competed against one another in our “Beard-Off” by putting down the razor and growing our beards out. In doing so, we began fundraising in order to make a charitable donation to the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation.

The whole reason behind No-Shave November is to raise awareness for various types of cancer by embracing that which many cancer patients lose: hair. One such form of cancer that plagues men across the world is that of the prostate. The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation strives to ensure that all men in our state can access the information, diagnoses, and treatments associated with prostate cancer.

I’m sure that I can speak for a vast majority of you out there in saying that I wish to live in a world that is free from the burden of cancer. While growing a beard out may raise some awareness, it’s the support and contributions of the people who rally behind the cause that truly brings the fight to cancer.

Arkansas is OUR state. Its people are OUR people. On behalf of the UAMS College of Medicine Class of 2022, I want to both encourage you and give an opportunity to rally behind the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation and progress the fight against cancer here in OUR state.
