My name is Joslyn and this is my story.
I was trafficked for 12 years from the age of 5 until I was 17.
When I escaped I was 21.

I suffered from a severe case of PTSD... I couldn't hold down a job because I couldn't sleep at night due to extreme night terrors. I couldn't shower because I was terrified of being that vulnerable. I couldn't vacuum or do anything with loud noises because I was afraid someone would sneak up on me and attack me if I wasn't constantly vigilant. I barricaded my door every night because I was terrified of who was on the other side of it.
Fortunately in my case, some good friends helped me to begin the healing process and encourage me to seek out the help of counsellors. There, I was finally able to win my freedom from terror. While not all of them are still active in my life, I am and will forever be grateful for the part they played in leading me towards freedom.

At thirty I finally feel like I have permission to be happy, to be free... to pursue my dreams.

Two years ago in Febuary of 2016 I met my Beloved.
I wasn't looking for a relationship and honestly didn't know if I was even ready for one. If you had told me that today I would be in love with a kind, wonderful man and that we would be so happy together, I wouldn't have believed you.
However, after only talking together once, I knew he was the man I would want to marry someday.

Pause a moment there, because I'd like to talk with you about the other love of my life, Music.
I was born with the deep desire to create music, to sing.
Singing helped me to get through the nefarious things that happened to me and helped me to find release for all of the emotions that I had bottled up inside. It saved my life.
I have been attempting to establish a career in music for the last several years, but know that without an education I'm limited when it comes to certain areas.
Going to college to pursue music would open so many doors to me that are closed, for the time being.

Cue my main topic now, as I tie all this together.

The University of Hull (pictured above) is one of the top universities in the UK and a jewel in the crown of the School is it's multi-million pound development, Middleton Hall... A world-class arts venue incorporating a 400-seat concert hall, industry standard recording and rehearsal spaces, and much more.

This is the stuff of dreams...
This is a three year course that can give me what I need to be able to make music my career, a dream that I've had for as long as I can remember.
Check it all out here:

You might be wondering about my boyfriend? He lives 15 minutes  away from campus.

I firmly believe that this is what I am meant to do. I've always known that I would pursue music, I never dreamed that I could do so with the love of my life by my side.

Lets talk numbers.

Any course that I take overseas will cost me an anual rate of 13,500 pounds. Thats $17,997.42 in American money.
My visa will cost $446.60 and I will also need to pay an anual $266.63 for the Immigration Heath Surchage.

That makes a grand total of $18,700 for this year.
Its a little less in the years following at $18300.

So let me tell you what I'm doing to attack this head on.
-I am applying for as many scholarships, grants and discounts as possible.
While working my full time job I am doing this every free moment of the day. At least 8 hours is focused attention to this task per day. There are some INCREDIBLE scholarships available out there that I am determined to take full advantage of.

-I am selling, literally, everything.
I can't take it with me inexpensivly, and frankly, I need to be saving every single penny I can. These are my dreams and they are worth it.

-I'm going to be getting creative, and soon I'll have some nifty things to sell that should help.

I'm committed to this goal and if I work hard, I believe that, with your support, I can make this dream a reality.

Please consider helping to support me by donating $5, $10, $25, $50, $75 or even $100 no later than May 2018.  School will begin in September!

Every little bit helps and I am so grateful to each person who, by donating or praying for me, joins me on this exciting new chapter of my life.

For everyone who donates $10 or more I will handwrite you a personalized thank you card. (Just please include your name and address!!)
