John's Multiple Myeloma Fight

$3,545 of $10,000 goal

In November of 2016, my father and best friend was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma. It has been a long road of doctors appointments and chemotherapy, and now it is time for the final step of treatment. His cancer has responded tremendously to the chemo treatments, but his oncologist recommends that his best chance for complete remission is by going through a bone marrow transplant. Everything is set in motion for us to travel to Denver for the transplant to take place. However, while we fight for my dad's life, our lives must still go on. We have rent to pay and bills to manage. I will not be working during this time, as I will be alongside my dad during his fight. We are asking for help to keep things afloat during this difficult time in the form of hotel stays during the pre-transplant phase and the outpatient after care period, gas for the to and from trips to Denver and appointments, as well as making sure we still have a home to come to when it is all over. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

We are so grateful and humbled by the outpouring of love and support we have received. Three trips to Denver are down, with only the big one left to go! Dad will be admitted to the hospital next Tuesday to begin the chemo dosing, and preparing for the transplant and refusion of his stem cell! We completed the collection this week. I will be missing three or more weeks of work by the time this is all said and done, and we are still waiting for disability benefits to kick in for dad. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of our hearts. This wouldn't be possible without you!

Wow! We are just blown away by the amount of support we have received in such a short time. We are so grateful for the love, support and encouragement you all have offered us. Our first trip to Denver is at the end of this month, so every donation we receive is more helpful than you all know. Once again, thank you all so much. I started a CaringBridge page to provide more accurate updates than I will here. If you are interested in following along, please send me a private message on Facebook, and I will invite you to the page! - Chelsea

I will never forget the day, the doctor telling Chelsea and I, that my wife blood cell count was out of control, and my kidneys had nearly shut down. "We think it is cancer, we just don't know what type, yet." I had good to keep my health issues, a completely, private matter. I hate attention and pity. But, it has come to a point, where I am in need of your prayers and support. I ask that you donate funds, only if you are completely comfortable and it will not burden you in any way! My unemployment has run out, and it will be months before my disability may be approved. I want to continue to bake this disease. I'm not ready to give up! I am so grateful for all of the prayers, love, kind thoughts, and well wishes! Again, only donate money, if you can afford to, and feel comfortable in doing so! Chelsea has been so totally supportive! She is a beautiful person, and has sacrificed so much, in caring for me! I hope I can give back as much as this fantastic life has given to me! Love and thanks to all! Thank you to those few friends and family, that I had shared this diagnosis with, who have supported, loved, and prayed for me, over the past few months! May God's will be done!
