Johnny's Wheelchair Van Fundraiser

This whole adventure has been considered impossible. People with my level of Cerebral Palsy don't really ever drive. The conventional reasoning is that we don't actually have enough physical control over our bodies, especially given the unpredictable nature of safely piloting a vehicle. And having CP, I can certainly understand that reasoning. Fortunately, that reasoning can be wrong.
Like most situations where I believe a task is not impossible for me to accomplish, I need others around me to also believe the same thing. And I tasked my driving evaluator with that daunting challenge. Together, after much trial and error, we discovered that the impossible simply hadn't been done yet.
I've always gladly accepted my disability as being an integral part of who I am, as a person. I have absolutely no desire to disassociate myself from it. However the stereotype attached to my disability is one that I deliberately and joyfully shatter at every possible opportunity.
Driving is not primarily just another opportunity to divorce myself from a shortsighted stereotype. As it does for everyone, driving affords me possibilities to broaden my reach to make a difference, and discover more avenues to enrich and enjoy my own life.
This whole adventure has been considered impossible. The next adventure seems equally impossible. Purchasing a wheelchair accessible van with the equipment that I need to drive is very expensive. But I believe that this too is indeed, possible. However, I need others around me to also believe the same thing. So I'm asking you to give if you also believe that impossible simply hasn't been done yet. Thank you.
