Assistance for John
My dad suffered a massive stroke on July 1, 2013. There has been an outpouring of prayer and encouragement from so many people, and I am eternally grateful for that.
As you know, it is a huge financial burden to pay for long-term care. While my prayer is that my dad will fully recover quickly, there is no way to know for sure if, how, and/or when he will be healed. I am only setting up this page because some have insisted on assisting financially. I am not asking for donations, but do appreciate everyone's willingness to help...whether it be financially, in prayer, or sending a kind word.
In the next day or two, my dad will be transferred to a subacute rehabilitation facility where they will focus more on strengthening exercises and speech therapy. After about six to eight weeks, we should have a better idea of the extent of his recovery and how to proceed with his care.
I hope and trust in the promises of our Lord and Savior, that someday, His children will be with Him in Paradise and our weak, fragile bodies will be no more. We will be transformed into His likeness and we will know no more pain.
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:37-39
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
This financial assistance will begin to fund most of his long-term care costs when his insurance lapses on November 15th.
As most of you know, my dad has been in and out of the hospital with multiple infections. Currently, he is in the hospital with a respiratory infection, but should be stable enough to move back to A Grace tomorrow.
I spent over an hour on the phone this past week with a doctor about my dad's condition. The infections (particularly the pneumonia) are becoming a chronic and more serious condition. His body is beginning to be less responsive to the antibiotics, though they've switched to several different ones throughout these last four months. While the tracheostomy makes him more prone to respiratory infection, it is still necessary for his breathing. I know that we have all hoped for stronger and quicker improvement to his condition.
God is still in control. I will forever trust in Him.
Why do you say, O Jacob,
And speak, O Israel:
"My way is hidden from the Lord,
And my just claim is passed over by my God"?
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Christina, I am so sorry to read the sad news of your father's passing. You may not remember me at all because you were very young when we were friends with your mother Claudia and your father in Foster City and San Mateo. My two boys, Alex and Lenny played with you. They lost their dad (Hiro) too in January 2013. We lost contact with your family after we moved to Fremont. Your mother was a dear friend of mine. I often think of you and today I decided to try to find you online. I hope and pray that you are doing well.
Christina so happy to hear the good news. Hope you are doing good as well. Takecare and God Bless you ....
