John and Beth McHoul have served the people of Haiti for nearly 30 years as founders and directors of Heartline Ministries. Compelled by the love of Jesus, their ministry has touched the lives of countless Haitian children and their families. John and Beth have provided compassionate care for orphans, facilitated adoptions of many hundreds of relinquished children into loving homes, provided lifesaving maternal health care to hundreds of women and girls, empowered Haitians with stable jobs and critical income-generating skills, enabled many children to go to school, and discipled Haitians to live as ambassadors of Jesus in their families and communities. John and Beth have lived with expansive hearts for Haiti, the poor, and the marginalized. Now they need our hearts and help.

In June 2017, John traveled to Florida for emergency surgery.  He had 95% blockage in all arteries and had seven heart stents placed in his heart. The recovery process has been steady but slow, and the need for future stents or bypass surgery are real possibilities. John is deeply grateful to be alive. Due to this health crisis, John and Beth have decided to spend more time in the States and less time in Haiti, while continuing to serve Heartline in new ways.

As they make this transition after being in Haiti for nearly 30 years, they are facing significant financial hurdles, including large medical bills and the need to purchase a car and insurance. They have had to replace their air conditioning unit and will soon need to replace the roof on their house. After life-altering heart surgery and many unexpected costs, they are starting again and need our help.

In order to help cover their substantial medical bills and significant home expenses, we are opening this GoFundMe campaign to humbly ask for your help. On behalf of John and Beth, thank you for your support and love. Your heart for this beloved couple is appreciated by our family and the entire Heartline family!

I'm writing this update from Haiti, the land of unlimited impossibility. Beth and I arrived on November 21st to attend the wedding of a longtime Heartline employee and to put on our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Beth returned to Florida on November 28th to attend classes on lactation. I'll be here until December 11th and it has been a busy time with three weddings, seminars, meeting, visits, sponsored students' Christmas parties, kids' club, guests at our house...People often ask what I miss most about Haiti and the answer hands downs is that I miss so many of the Haitian people that I've been blessed to know, and work with. Their passion for God and their perseverance and faith is such an inspiration, example and encouragement. I am so blessed to be able to be here and with the plan to return every several weeks in 2018 to work with groups that will be coming to Heartline.
The generosity of so many friends and even others that we've never met have helped us with the staggering cost of transitioning to St. Petersburg, Florida. We have been able to purchase a vehicle, replace the roof on the house and install a new AC unit. We also been able the buy furniture and to pay off some of the medical bills.
Our Rally Around the McHouls Goal is $100,000. The funds given through Go Fund Me and the funds sent directly to us have totaled about $88,000, for which we are so very thankful.
We over the years have raised tens of thousands of dollars on behalf of others but when it comes to ourselves we feel awkward and perhaps even unworthy to ask for your help. Our plan is to close down the Go Fund Me Rally on December 31st, and it would be so very helpful if we could we could raise the $12,000 and reach our goal of $100,000.
I am thankful that God has granted me more days and I'm thankful for those that have helped us in this transition. Please consider helping us reach our goal of $100,000.
In the Grip of His Grace,
John McHoul

On Tuesday, September 26th my mom flew from Tampa to Haiti to spend several days working at the Heartline Maternity Center. Two days after she left, my dad drove himself to St. Anthony’s hospital in St. Pete because he was having significant chest pains and shortness of breath. He was immediately admitted and over the next two days he was given an EKG, a Sonogram, a Nuclear Stress Test and a Cardiac Catheterization, as well as having blood drawn several times.
It was discovered that the seven stents put in three months earlier were clear and not clogged, but some of his smaller arteries, too small to be stented, have blocks. The cardiologist added a medication to his daily regimen that will help blood flow to the heart and the next day, on Saturday afternoon, he was discharged.
My mom, who was still in Haiti offered to come back but dad said that he was fine and that we would call her if she needed to rush back.
Since leaving the hospital he has been feeling much better and is thankful for the concern and prayers of many.
We are so thankful to you for your support of our parents. So many have shown kindness by giving to the “Go Fund Me” Campaign. If you haven’t given yet, please consider doing so. Thank you for your prayers as well, which are very much needed.

I'm writing this update from a hospital bed. I came to the emergency room about thee hours ago after having chest pains and shortness of breath for a couple of days. Right now I'm connected to some type of monitor and waiting for results.
Beth is in Haiti for a week at the Heartline Maternity Center.
Your generosity has been amazing as we work on spending time in the States and time in Haiti. Getting set up in Florida has been a challenge and we often have felt like the Flintstones visiting the Jetsons.
The costs involved have been high and even as I write this roofers are putting a new roof on our house. We were blessed that Hurricane Irma weakened by the time it got to us and while we lost some roof shingles, there was no water damage.
We are gearing up to being active again with Heartline and in October through December we will be busy traveling and speaking. We'll be speaking in NC, TN, MA, NH and also will be in Haiti for a couple of weeks.
The GoFundMe campaign initiated by our children is to help us with the medical bills and the cost of setting up house in Florida after being in Haiti for 28 years. I guess you could say that it gives us the boost to help us with the transition. Your giving has made a difference and has been such an encouragement. If you've been waiting to give, now would be a good time to give and help us reach our goal as we continue to be the hands of Jesus where God has us.
