John Corrigan's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Since 2013, John has been battling several major medical issues so was not able to work for an extended amount of time which has caused significant financial hardship. He was just getting back on his feet, literally, this year when he suffered a stroke on March 19, 2019, leaving him with right side paralysis. He is undergoing extensive physio, occupational and speech therapy and working hard to try to retrain his body to be able to get back to living at home, working, and square dance calling. However, it is unknown for how long he may not be able to work. The Corrigan family could really use some financial help to cover all the extra expenses associated with these challenges.
John Corrigan has dedicated much of his life to teaching and entertaining square dancers, and the betterment of the square dance activity through many years of volunteering to help run a wide variety of square dance organizations and events.
The Corrigan family has given a lot to square dancing, and now is the time for the square dance community to give back and help ease this extra financial burden on the Corrigan family so that John can focus on his road to recovery.
You can make personal donations by cash or cheque (payable to John Corrigan) or by credit card via the GoFundMe website. GoFundMe will charge a 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction fee and may apply an automatic tip. If you do not wish to leave a tip, select the tip amount as “other” and enter $0.00. According to the CRA, amounts received as personal gifts are not subject to tax in the hands of the recipient.
