John Boland - Blind Football

I'm very proud and happy to announce that John has been selected to represent Australia in the Australian Blind Football (Soccer) team going to Malaysia this September.

John comes from a proud sporting background and despite losing his vision at four years of age he participated in main stream sports with much success until he was sixteen.  For many years John volunteered to coach and mentor junior basketballers at his local basketball club passing on his passion for sport.  John continues to coach young basketballers in his community.  In the past two years he has represented Victoria in the National Blind Cricket Championships and through his own personal initiative and community spirit he has created an opportunity for other young blind people to participate in sport.

John's selection in the team is an exciting opportunity, however there is no funding for Australian Blind Football (Soccer).

While John is training with his team to get ready to do Australia proud, he still needs to cover the cost of equipment, flights, accommodation and training camps.  Individual athletes are expected to pay these costs so any donation no matter how big or small helps John get one step closer to Malaysia.
