This page is dedicated with the sole purpose to help and benefit one of our closest friends Joey Buitron and his family as they start a battle against a horrible disease. I am one of their running friends here in McAllen, TX and I have gotten to know the Buitrons really good in the last few years. It is why I feel a strong commitment to help them during this hard times.
As you might already know, earlier this week, 45 year old Joey Buitron, one of McAllen's finest police officer and running brother was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a malignant form of cancer. This horrible disease has taken the family for a spin as they are facing many unexpected daily challenges and expenses.
In order to start his treatment, Joey had to be admitted into MD Anderson Center in Houston, TX. This meant leaving their kids with family members in McAllen as him and his wife relocated to a different city hoping and praying for the best. Being away from them is another challenge. As you probably know, the Buitron's are a very close knit family and being away from their kids is heartbreaking...their kids are their life.
Iris Buitron, Joey's amazing and loving wife has been by his side since day one. She has relocated to Houston with him, left her job and is currently by his side making sure he keeps his head up and strong in faith. If you know Iris, she is always helping others and is always looking out for everyone else...it is now that she needs to know that we are all here for them and that she is not alone with him.
This fundraiser will hopefully raise enough money to alleviate some of their monetary expenses. With Joey out of work, medical expenses and bills can add up quickly and insurance companies usually don't provide what we need, when we need them. We all know that there is no price for love...its our time to show them OUR UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND SUPPORT.
We would be very grateful and appreciative of any donations you could sent their way. As mentioned above, the money raised here will be to cover any medical expenses not covered by insurance, temporary living arrangements in Houston and other necessities the family might face. The Buitrons are a very loved family by many people here in the Valley and what better way to show them than by donating to this great cause and helping Joey get better. Lets keep our hands and hearts together as we help bring Joey back to the Valley healthy and cancer free.
God works in misterious ways and we have faith He will lead us out of this darkness...
