Joe's Sponsored Silence for TCT

My brother Joseph confronted cancer twice (non-hodgkins lymphoma) all before his 15th birthday, with the most recent fight being won through the expert care provided through amazing Teenage Cancer Trust. Sadly, Joe was largely bed-bound and in hospital for the majority of a year, surrounded by new friends his own age in similar situations, some of whom were very sadly not as fortunate with their battles with cancer.
Rather than feeling isolated, in a generic hospital, receiving the same treatment from doctors as adults undergoing similar battles (as he experienced in his first cancer fight at age 7), with the TCT, his treatment was completely tailored to what was best for him as a teenager. He was treated as a young person first and foremost, and a cancer patient second. Though many stages of his treatment (such as his significantly risky stem cell transplant) were unbearable, the Trust itself was amazing, providing him with a sense of normality through fun experiences, teenage-orientated facilities (pool table, beds for parents, games consoles, games and books etc. all within the state-of-the-art specialist wing) and events to look forward to during his treatment, and most of all, fantastic teenage cancer experts doing their utmost to make sure he didn't feel as though he was combating cancer alone.
As it is a charity, the Teenage Cancer trust can't run without support. Now that he is back to his bouncy, healthy self, Joe wants to give back to this incredible charity by fundraising through a sponsored silence on 11th Feb 2018.
