Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing

Donation protected
Hello Everybody,

As many of you know, I've been accepted into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing. With a huge THANK YOU to those whom originally donated, I finished my first semester with excellent grades: 3 A's and a B+ and I cannot wait to continue. I absolutely love the art of nursing, and I know my future lays within healthcare.

Prior to becoming a nursing student, I was a gymnast and contortionist who performed all over the world in Cirque du Soleil's Totem. I have a deep passion for helping people and knew once I retired from performing, my next life goal was set: pursue a career in the medical field. I quickly realized how unreasonably expensive tuition is for higher education in the United States. I saved all my money while touring with Cirque, and invested it into my undergraduate bachelors degree, graduating with a 3.86 GPA. I have applied for financial aid, filled out the FASFA forms, and spoken to many different advisors who are trying to help me figure out a financial aid plan. One of the advisors suggested that I create a gofundme.

Additionally, having applied for federal financial aid, I have applied for scholarships and am grateful to admit that I was awarded one (sadly it won't cover the full tuition, but I am very honored to be chosen for it).

I know this coming semester is going to be one of the biggest challenges because I will be commuting to NYC from Boston every weekend to continue working at Transform Fitness. I am grateful I will still be able to train my amazing athletes to pursue their physical goals while I"m achieving my educational ones. I know, 500+ miles, round trip on a Megabus, every weekend seems vast, but it gives me an income and guaranteed study time while on the road.

In addition to my history as a gymnast and contortionist, I am also the author of my memoir, 'Acrobaddict', which is about my struggles as a homeless heroin addict, and how I got clean and sober. One of the primary tenants of nursing is education. It is my hope that I am able to utilize my experience and teach current nurses, addicts and their families; sending a real message that resonates with those suffering from addiction, helping them avoid the same path I mistakenly went down. If you can donate a little, I would be extremely appreciative. I believe I will become an incredible nurse who will work tirelessly and try my very best to save and inspire many lives. My deepest and warmest wishes to you.
