Jim Dehnke, Glioblastoma Fighter #cancersucks

Jim is a guy who has always been there for everyone else in his life. He is a friend to all and the life of a party. Unfortunately, while at one of his favorite activities of the year, he fell ill. While in Reno, Nevada, for Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off, his amazing friends Jon and Kristy noticed he was not himself. They had him taken to the ER and after quick work by the local clinic the CT showed "a mass" on the scan. This caused Jim to be transferred to the larger hospital in Reno, and undergo an MRI with contrast. This scan showed a much more detailed image of the reason behind his symptoms of headaches, inability to sleep, personality changes, etc.

When he was cleared to travel home to Minnesota, Jon and Kristy, the entire team at Just North of Memphis, and the organizers of the Nugget Rib Cook-Off, made sure both Jim and Jake (Jim's son), made it to the airport for their flight home. As soon as Jim was home, he was driven to The Mayo Clinic where they decided that while it was an important case, it was not so emergent that he needed to be seen and operated on that night. He could wait for the doctors who specialized in Glioblastoma, and who, as the nurses said, "Lived for these one-of-a-kind cases." After several days of appointments, back and forth from their home in Prior Lake, MN and to the Mayo, surgery was scheduled for September 5th.

Jim had a craniotomy preformed where they got great margins. He came out of surgery with very limited deficits, however before this surgery Jim was the sole provider in his home and since the surgery he has not been able to work. He is also not able to drive, and the doctors are unsure when or if that will change. While we are currently waiting to find out what type of chemotherapy treatment he will start next week, he will start radiation on Thursday, October 3rd.

We are raising money for not only medical bills, but also bills in general. Jim was the sole provider in his home, and without his salary everything is tight. This money will be used to create a less stressful and more healing environment for Jim. Please consider donating whatever amount you can, anything helps. We truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
