Jewish Girls Adventures in Science

Hi, my names Ruchy and I came to the realization that there are hardly-if any-opportunities for Jewish girls in New York with a love for science to learn and experiment in an academic and religous setting during the summer, so Khana Bychkova and I are trying to create a summer program-J-GASP: Jewish Girls' Adventures in Science Program for girls in the jewish community to have an intellectual outlet and to give them a productive, enjoyable summer by teaching them science in a hands-on, experiment filled way. Not only will they be learning, but they will also be working on a major project of the summer and who knows what scientific discoveries can come out of it?...By keeping these girls busy and happy we're keeping them away from the danger of being bored or unstimulated-which can lead to bad things. We also aim to be able to keep up the science program somewhat during the year with weekly club meetings and participate in state competitions so that girls attending struggling schools with not the greatest education in science can keep growing from what they learned in the summer program. We will also be including a science through a Torah-lens aspect of the learning so that these girls from more sheltered communities can see that secular studies are not as taboo as they have been brought up to believe-as long as it is handled in a proper manner and coming from a clean source. In order to give a fair chance to as many girls that want to participate in the program, we're trying to raise as much money as we can for the lab space, equipment, books, and supplies so that no girl is denied this opportunity because of financial difficulty. That's where You come in. You can help us bring our program off the ground and support Torah and the sciences and give these girls with no other options a summer of a lifetime, as well as support my friend and I in our pursuit to start a summer science program business that can lead to a huge organization of jewish science programs.
