This is a story about a very special person, Jessica Wood. She is 28 years young and one of the most beautiful souls you will ever meet. After crossing paths with Jessica a few years ago I knew instantly she was full of life, intelligent, caring, and as sweet as can be while at the same time being an amazing person and friend. She is the perfect girlfriend to her loving boyfriend Phil and the two of them are inseparable. Her work as a photographer has captured many lasting memories, as her eye for beauty is unmatched.
Throughout the past year, Jess has been in a lot of pain. Watching her suffering at work brought tears to my eyes. In effort to reduce the pain she was experiencing she became very involved with learning about a holistic lifestyle like eating organic, using essential oils and taking healthy supplements. Her constant research about how to help our bodies was a great influence on those around her. She shared lots of information about disease prevention and even possible cures of some of the diseases widespread in the world by living a holistic lifestyle. Who knew all that research would become the most important aspect of Jess’ life?
It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Just recently, our sweet Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 3 Cervical Cancer. Her doctors would like to start an aggressive treatment of radiation and chemotherapy right away. It is at this point that she has learned she is also in a battle for a chance at having children in the future due to this treatment. She will have to go through the procedure to retrieve some of her eggs and freeze them before radiation and chemo to hopefully have kids of her own one day. All of which is not covered under insurance and paid out of pocket. The news has devastated Jess and all those that know and love her. Her boyfriend Phil has been her rock and has been there every step of the way (and every single appointment) to support her through this difficult time. They are doing everything they can to fight this, but it is happening so fast.
We all know that no one deserves this. It is a battle that many people are fighting in this world. Today we are asking for any support you are willing to give. Jessica is a fighter and will continue to be, but the added support of her friends and family will motivate her to keep fighting with all her strength and never give up.
