Jessica Smith Moving Fund

Jessica and her Uncle Dave are moving to Mississippi and need help with expenses. Please look in your heart and if you can help, please give generously to this brave soul who wants to create a new start for herself in Mississippi.

Many of you know Jessica Smith. She has been a part of our community for many years and has been a fixture at Eve Selis concerts for nearly half of her 34 years. She's had Cerebral Palsy since birth and was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010. Her positive spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity has been an inspiration to us all. She has helped raise thousands of dollars for local and national charities.

The past few years have been unimaginably hard on Jess. Both of her parents died within 2 years of each other leaving her orphaned and desolate, both physically and emotionally. She's been shuffled through various group homes, spent 8 months with an abusive caregiver who stole her life savings (more than $60,000!) and most recently, fell off a ramp in her electric wheelchair and received a concussion with fractured bones in her head and bleeding on her brain. She has suffered continued debilitating pain as well as some hearing loss. In addition, her only mode of transport (a modified 2000 Dodge Caravan) is on its last legs and needs to be replaced.

We, her friends and family, are rallying around her to raise enough money to buy a new or re-furbished handicap van, as well as a long list of other needs and, are asking for our community to pitch in. Will you help us help Jess?
