Dear Friends and Family-

Welcome to my annual birthday fundraising drive for the organization I co-founded, The Minga Foundation . This year, I'd like to take the opportunity to honor the best little man I’ve ever known: my four-legged, one-eared companion, Sam.

I met Sam in Ecaudor when Minga (then called fhn USA) was first conceived; we consider him as much a co-founder of Minga as any one of us! Next month will be the one year anniversary of Sam's death, and I still miss him every day. I'm confident, though, that Sam would be proud of all that we’ve accomplished with Minga this year. To name a few of our success stories from 2015:

* We constructed a 5th borehole well in Kayunga,
Uganda, providing clean water to hundreds of families
in the area.

* We trained our Ugandan partner organization,
BUVAD, to conduct community surveys, data
analysis and project evaluations.

* We brought treated, piped water to 60 families in
Carrazedo, Brazil, and we renovated an açai orchard
to provide an economic alternative to logging for the
community.

* We added two new members to our board of
directors, and we reviewed new project proposals
from 40 organizations worldwide, of which 5 were
selected for Minga support. (More to come on that!)  

At Minga, community organizing and capacity-building is both our process and our goal. I believe in our work and am so proud of all of our continued accomplishments.

To that end, this year my goal is to raise $2,000 by the 1st of February (my birthday, if you needed reminding). That doesn’t give me much time (and it’s $1,000 more than my goal last year. I suppose confidence comes with age??) Can you help me reach my goal? As an all-volunteer organization, one hundred percent of your contribution – no matter how small – goes to the ground. And trust me when I say…it goes a long way!
