Jeremy is a loving father and husband who has experienced an unexpected, critical health crisis. He was admitted to the hospital with severe sepsis and multiple organ failure due to large blood clots cutting off the blood supply to his bowels.  When he admitted to the hospital, he was given a 2% chance of survival. He was in the ICU for nearly 2 weeks while undergoing multiple life-threatening surgeries to save him, and during this time he was found to have a rare blood clotting disorder that will require him to be on blood thinners for the rest of his life. He will have multiple appointments in Portland at OHSU to determine his specific course of treatment, along with multiple blood tests and other follow up appointments .  While in the ICU, the doctor told this family they were out of options - they were told to wait to see IF the medicine would work and to hope and pray for a miracle.  After surviving surgery, the doctors told Jeremy he was truly a miracle and alive as a result of prayers and a blessing from God. That they have never seen a case as rare as his.  This family has been through so much in such a short time, with the recent unexpected loss of their daughter. You can imagine how stressful, heart-wrenching and awful this current crisis has been for this family, who has already gone through so much trauma and pain that no one should have to go through.  Jeremy is still in the hospital and will be until his blood work stabilizes due to the rare nature of his situation. He will be out of work for a minimum of 3 months once he returns home and will take at least twice that to feel like himself again due to the severity of his illness.  Please consider helping this wonderful family, who has been through so much  and now has an insurmountable amount of growing medical bills, in addition to the needs of daily life. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jeremy is now home out of the hospital and home with his family. He is slowly recovering and has not yet been able to return to work.

Here is an update from Toni - Jeremy's wife, on June 8th: Jeremy is doing better. He's walking. He's able to drive. He's returning to work part  time. He's tired quite often from just walking around and going to multiple dr appts. But he's doing it with a smile on his face. We know we will have quite the medical bills eventually and I'm trying to not even stress about that as we will make monthly payments like everyone else in this country does! Right now we are just trying to make enough money to cover half of July's bills until we will be safe financially and j will be back to work full time. We are not trying to sound "greedy" or anything else that may pop up in some peoples's minds. We are simply just trying to be ok with monthly bills and injections that j has to be on. He will be on the injections for 6 weeks and they are 549 dollars out of pocket. These injections keep his blood thin to prevent additional clots. The ultrasound he had last week showed a small blood clot in his arm. He's safe and it will likely dissolve and it will not be an issue.
