Husband, Father of Four Daughters, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Grandson, and Friend...

On Thursday, March 29, 2018: After stopping for dinner at a Cracker Barrel in Lafayette, La and getting a full tank of gasoline in both my truck and our rental Penske truck hauling all of your memories/our possessions, I kissed my husband Jeremiah Alton Huggins (39 years old) and our daughter Evelyn Nancy Huggins who is 9 years old. We were on our way to go back home to Middleburg, Fl from the hell that was Southern California.

Not even 10 mins go by that I see my husband Jeremiah who was an experienced and amazing driver who was driving under the speed limit (65mph) in the right lane SLAMMING ON HIS BRAKES trying to swerve away to the right with our daughter in the passenger seat from what looked like 2 Parked semi trucks with no lights on or hazard light on in the right lane in front of him on I10 East just before a green highway sign for Lobdell, La. I was immediately behind him slamming on my brakes swerving even more to the right trying not to hit him, hitting the grass and mud. I had our other two daughters and three dogs in my truck. I immediately got out of my truck ran to our daughter Evelyn and my Jeremiah. I pick Evelyn up cradling her out of the truck that was not even covering her cover in blood and glass. Running back to my truck to put her in. To what people have read has been incorrect she has minor cuts from the broken glass and bruises all on her body including marks from her seatbelt with seeing everything that happened to HER DADDY with her left hand touching his right hand. So NO she didn’t just walk away with nothing wrong. Then I immediately ran back to my Jeremiah (Jay) trying to get to him screaming for him to stay with me but I was pulled away by people. Our daughter Evelyn Nancy Huggins was saved by her father giving his life and his last breath so she could have a chance at her life.

I married my best friend, the love of my life, the father of my daughters 10 years ago only to have him ripped away from me for no reason. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED!!! THERE WAS NO WARNING!!!

To all of our family, friends, and complete strangers that have been there through my and our daughters horrific hell, I/we am deeply thankful and just lost.

My Jeremiah Alton Huggins (Jay) was 39 years old man who is an amazing outstanding father, absolutely loving husband and who would give you the shirt off his back to help anyone who asked him. He accomplished so much in such a short time in his life. Having to deal with a high school not wanting to teach him because he was bored only having a GED, he went on to receive his associates and a bachelors in Mathematics, Computer Engineering, and in Network Engineer. He was also an accomplished long haul truck driver and a certified scuba diver. He was a huge geek who taught his daughters to love Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Comic Books, Legos, and so much more. He has the most hilarious sense of humor that could make you laugh so hard. ONCE AGAIN, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED AND THERE WERE NO WARNINGS!!!     Not only 8 months prior a minor male child also lost his life in a motor vehicle from what I was told by a police officer who was trying to take care of me and our daughters and dogs. FROM WIKIPEDIA “In 2011, Louisiana ranked among the five deadliest states for debris/litter-caused vehicle accidents per total number of registered vehicles and population size. Figures derived from[40] the NTSHA show at least 25 persons in Louisiana were killed per year in motor vehicle collisions with non-fixed objects, including debris, dumped litter, animals and their carcasses.”
One accident is to many!!! This could have been prevented and shouldn’t have happened!!! Don’t let it happen to another family!!!!

My Jeremiah Alton Huggins was so proud of his beard that he grew out within 8 months from the first photo. We have received some donations but we are staying with family for a short time until I get a job and our own place and I can not afford to pay the payments on my vehicle that Jeremiah bought for me/the family as a birthday present to me in 2015.
