Jennie's Surgery; hope for healing

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Fritzie and I am sponsering a gofundme account for my daughter. Jennifer Homer needs surgery, a portion of it is not covered by her insurance company, Tricare Standard. Here is her  story.                                        Three days before  a C-section was to take place Jennie's uterus ruptured, her beautiful new son died inutero and she almost lost her life. After recovering, somewhat, physically from this ordeal she was found to have a cantaloupe size ventral hernia. She has been walking around with this constant, physical reminder of the hole in her heart for 10 months now. This is also  a painful physical condition to be living with. It interferes with activities, making even walking painful.

Jennifer is the mother of 5 other children, including a set of twins.  Due to her multiple pregnancies , especially having had twins she has a large amount of skin that overhangs her abdomen.  She needs to have an abdominoplasty  at the same time as the hernia repair. The Dr that will do the hernia repair will not do it unless she does. The Dr. says that he would be medically negligent to do this without her having the abdominoplasty at the same time. This is because of an increased chance of the hernia opening back up  from the pull of the excess skin and the abdominal muscles being stretched and torn. This is called diastasis recti. The Dr. says that, especially from the twin pregnancy, the separation between her abdominal muscles is so wide and with  the very large hernia repair that is needed, the likelyhood of getting a stable, lasting repair is slim. The insurance will pay for the hernia repair but not the abdominoplasty stating that it is for cosmetic reasons.

Jennifer and her husband, an officer in the US Navy are model parents. Jennie homeschools her children with diligence, they are active in many homeschool activities and co-ops.  Also Church and sports activities. Jennifer needs to have these surgeries both for physical and mental health reasons. She had been waiting to get the hernia repaired until her husband could be home to help her but he is out to sea and his deployment has been extended and does not know when he will be coming home. While she was pregnant she and the children were seperated from husband and Father because  he was restationed and the base had no housing available.  This went on for seven months. After her traumatic delivery and loss of her newborn they were able to get housing at the new base. So off to a new place they go without a support base in place for their greiving hearts. Her husband , Jason has been deployed over half the time that they have been on their new base.

As if this isn't enough problems Jennifer also has a diagnosis of MS. The MS causes her to have extreme migraines, also lack of sensation in her skin. She also suffers from debilitating back and neck pain.  The abdominoplasty would help stabilize her core muscles and possibly help the back and neck pain. It would also help with skin integrity. With the loss of sensation  she has gotten her skin caught in her jeans zipper. Jennifer's grief counselor also encourages her to have this surgery done. Every step she takes is a reminder of her loss.  The stages of grief are hard enough to go through without an ever present reminder.

With all these problems you might think she would be so depressed that she would not be able to function as an active wife and mother but this is not the the case. With her husband deployed she is the 24 hour caretaker of them all. Constantly on the go with school, church and sport activities. I think it is time that Jennie gets some time to heal physically, spiritually and mentally.
