Update: Jenna’s Tube was comprised from within for the 2nd time after discharge. She will be getting a 3rd sugery to replace it please support Jenna so she can be strong and recovered enough for another surgery in March 2019
Hello my name is Andrea Hernandez
I have set up this page to help my daughter Jenna Hernandez she was a healthy girl with her whole life ahead of her just 3 years ago for the last 3 years she has been fighting for her life.
Jan 3, 2019 she had life saving emergency surgery to place a feeding tube bypassing her stomach to her small intestine so she can get nourishment into her body.
For the last 3 years she has been fighting several terrible illness including 2 Non curable Type 1 diabetes, Severe Gastropersis,(Paralyzed Stomach) Chronic Myofascial Thoracic Pain, Severe Caloric Malnourishment just to name a few.
She became dangerously underweight unable to hold down any food or drink down. Weighing in at only 65lbs
which is life threatening can lead to a stroke or heart attack,
Not to mention how this has ravaged her body in so many ways her skin, hair, teeth and bones have been all completely compromised.
The worst thing is the unbearable pain that is almost 24 hours a day keeping Jenna 90% bedridden for the last 2 years unable to even do simple tasks you and I can take for granted.
Like washing your hair, eating a meal, or being able to leave the house at all.
We are trying to raise money so we can bring her home from hospital to a new bed and bedding a shower chair so she can sit while bathing, Supplies for caring for her stomach tube and medications that are not covered under her insurance including her tube feeding meals.
She and her family moved back in with us so her father and I could care for her.
We are in a small 2 bedroom apartment we have been unable to break the lease.
Jenna and her family have been sleeping on our couch for last year.
We are already approved for a bigger place so Jenna and family can have a room.
Money to be able to break our lease early is needed. We can no longer have Jenna in the small conditions we are in she needs to be in her own space.
Doctors told us if the tube gets compromised , infected or dislodged it could lead to a very serious infection that Jenna may not be able to overcome.
Jenna must be able to recover to have her next surgery at UCLA in March. Where they will get be placing a permanent stomach pacemaker. So her stomach can digest food she is totally unable to do on own now.
Anything helps whatever you spend on coffee in a week or a movie we appreciate prayers also!
