Hello friends and family,
On January 2nd our mother Jeanmarie was admitted to the hospital and transfered to the JMS Burn Center in Augusta , GA, the #1 Burn Center in the nation. She was bening treated for a staph infection for several weeks before and had a severve allergic reaction to the antibiotics. She developed Steven Johnson syndrome/Ten disease. More than 60% of her skin has been affected as well as her swallowing and respiratory system.
Surgery was performed to remove the burned skin and she was placed in a ventilator to protect her airway. She is doing as well as expected at this time.
We were told her recovery will be slow and long. Medicare will not come close to covering her medical bills. She will need our help so she can concentate on healing.
