Chandler - Jeanette Helen Cox, affectionately known to those who loved her as Jeannie, was born on June 16th, 1966 and passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, March 16th, 2019 at 11:11am at the age of 52. She was a glass artist that had a passion for creating jewelry and sculptures, while helping others in the community through her work with Beads of Courage, a local non-profit aimed at transforming the treatment experience for children coping with chronic, life threatening illness through their arts-in-medicine program. Donations in her name to Beads of Courage are encouraged.

She is survived by her parents Laura and Gerald Kelley, her brother Jak Kelley, her three adult children, Chris and Mike Castillejo and Alex Cox, and her husband Thomas Cox.

A Celebration of Life will be held by her family on Saturday, April 13th at the Dirty Blonde Tavern in Chandler from 12:30-3:30pm. Pictures and stories from various times in her life will be shared with all.

Update 3/15/2019 from Jareth Harrie Eerie Hola (Jennies daughter)

Mum was doing so well as of Friday, but her cancer was too aggressive while she was off of chemo after her emergency surgery to save her life 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday, our family (including Mum) chose what was best for her comfort and quality of life, so she came home to grandma's house with a DNR and hospice support. She's such a fighter and I'm so proud of her.

I will be here at grandma's to care for her as much as possible, only going home to grab new clothes and feed the animals.

Prayers and good thoughts for her to pass peacefully and painlessly are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much to everyone who reached out to me, especially my amazing, loving, and understanding AZVA family. I love you all and thank you all for your support. ❤

It should have been caught in July, when it was small and just in her colon.

But when Jeannie Cox, known for her warm generosity and talent in the glass community went to the ER in July 2018, the doctors skipped critical tests they should have done, and sent her home with a hesitant diagnosis of diverticulitis. (Yes, the diagnosis was hesitant as even the doctor expressed doubts that that was what is was and said, "so I'm going to treat it as if it is diverticulitis". This could prove to be a mistake fatal to Jeannie.

On December 2nd Jeannie returned to the ER, this time with severe abdominal pain that was not among her symptoms in July (making the diagnosis of diverticulitis even less likely). And this time they looked that critical step further.

In a whirlwind of tests, each bringing worse news than the last, a mass in one ovary was found, then lesions in her liver, and finally traced it back to a tumor in her colon, which they determined was the source from which the cancer metastasized.

Unexpected, tragic, and heartbreaking. Jeannie has undergone one infusion of chemotherapy drugs, but she won't have insurance till January.

We are reaching out to friends and fans, those who have loved Jeannie's tutorial videos, or those with an interest in glass arts or even art in general. Jeannie is a big proponent for Beads of Courage and gives so much to the organization and the kids in need. Jeannie is not able to pursue her glass art at the moment, but she still is of a generous heart and freely shares her knowledge with her many followers. She hopes to get back to her torch.

But for now, Jeannie needs your help. Help with the monumental bills for an 11 day stay at the hospital, and her chemotherapy (which one wonderful doctor fought to get for her when the others wanted to send her home for lack of insurance), we ask for any donation you feel is right for you. Any amount can help and is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
