Our good friend, Christine Rossiter (37), urgently needs your financial help to support her and her family with current living and future medical expenses to fight advanced breast cancer, including possible travel abroad for additional medical expertise.
Christine's Story
Christine is a mother of two boys, the youngest of whom attends Senior Infants at Howth Primary School. In 2016, at age 34, she visited a GP with a lump in her breast. To her shock, scans revealed stage 4 breast cancer that had spread to several organs including her brain, liver, and lungs. Christine's original prognosis was five years. After many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, her cancer has proven to be aggressive with limited response to conventional treatments. Christine is dealing with her diagnosis with characteristic grace and sweetness; she also continues to raise her two boys with love, humour and optimism.
Our Goals
We are a group of mothers who are fundraising for Christine with two goals in mind: the first is to keep her youngest child in the school where he is surrounded by his buddies - our children - but also us, the mothers who know him and can support him while his mother battles this cruel disease.
Christine's terminal diagnosis ended her career as a graphic designer. At a time when they would otherwise have been saving for a deposit, Christine and her partner of 19 years were wrestling with a catastrophic diagnosis and unforeseen loss of earnings. Christine and her family have been living in Howth, but they will come to the end of this arrangement in June, leaving them with no home. They are going to need our financial help to find a new home within range of the school.
The second goal is to get Christine on any cancer immunotherapy trials in the US she may be suitable for. If the right trial comes up, Christine will have to travel at short notice. We want to send her there to give her a chance to benefit from cutting edge medical treatment and provide for accommodation and other expenses.
