It has been a rough year for my cute sister and her family.  Lindsey gave birth to her fourth boy Alvie Rivers on May 25, 2019.  After 7 weeks of difficulties with Alvie he was admitted to the hospital for pyloric stenosis. A blockage that doesn't allow anything to pass through to the intestine. He was incredibly dehydrated, hadn’t pooped in 10 days and loosing weight.  They administered an IV which took an hour to get set and after a day of hydrating the doctors took him in for emergency surgery and were able to successfully fix the issue.

As the medical bills have started pouring in from Alvie’s procedure, Thursday morning Lindsey’s husband Jeremy was suddenly in excruciating pain and couldn’t walk. Within 15 minutes they could tell something was wrong because his legs were turning purple and the pain was unbearable. Lindsey rushed him to the ER where they administered morphine, ketamine, fentanyl, dilaudid all of which were not touching his pain. A cardiac thoracic surgeon let Lindsey know they would be doing a surgery but the outcome in the past had a 50% mortality rate or loss of limbs.
Through prayer, miracle and incredible skill and talent the first surgery was successful! 6 hrs long.
The surgeon made a path with a wire through the inferior vena cava that had been closed off. He found clots through his pelvic area and said that Jeremy’s anatomy is unlike anything he his ever seen.  His inferior vena cava hasn’t been used for years  and years and his body has compensated by growing other small collateral veins around it to keep him alive. They were able to save his legs and get him stable.
Day 2  Lindsey was told that the next surgery was incredibly high risk and that there was potential to loose Jeremy even if the surgery went perfect. Because of Jeremy’s unique anatomy there wasn’t a textbook surgery to be performed. He had to have a surgery custom built specific to him and in real time. They needed to open up main pathways for blood to get to the heart. The cardio thoracic surgeon again spent 7.5 hrs working on Jeremy. And through skill, talent, prayer and Gods hand was successful! He placed 10 stents and opened up the entire inferior vena cava!
Jeremy is stable and doing so incredibly well. Doctors and nurses are blown away by what the surgeon was able to accomplish, the outcome, Jeremy’s strength and the circulation in his legs.

Jeremy is a police officer.  He has insurance coverage but there are A LOT of out of pocket costs from Alvies surgery and now there will be much much more from Jeremy’s.  Any help is greatly appreciated!
