John Covington  FAYETTEVILLE, NC
I'm working on my MFA in Boston / Cambridge via the Low-Res program. I want to do an artist residency in Tokyo Feb 2017 and need to raise funds to fly there and back, cover lodging, food, artwork shipping cost and have money to purchase media arts tool from Wacom. In return for your donation I will share what I've learn about Japanese Media Arts with Americans.

Currently reading a booked called 'How to Draw and Paint Manga'. I teach drawing at A.C. Moore Arts and Craft in Fayetteville, NC every other Sunday. I'm always in search of people of all ages interested in learning anime style illustration and traditional animation illustration techniques using paper and pencil. In the future, I would love to have a team of visual artists and animators in Fayetteville, NC and Boston, MA. Till then, the goal is Tokyo Media Artist Residency Japan 2017, learn and work with digital visual artists that have mastered Wacom products.

It's going to be extremely difficult to raise $20,000.00 to study Japanese media arts in Tokyo and teach Americans my style of Afro-Futurism using New Media Arts. Growing up watching Japanese Animated Films, Martial Art Films created by the Shaw Brother and experiencing the art created in Japanese video entertainment systems has shaped my perspective of fine art and technology. My goal is to master media arts and animation at Lesley University before the year 2020 and create amazing films with 300 plus visual artist, actors, musicians, and animators in Boston, MA and Fayetteville, NC. Invest in the future, donate. I currently teach The Fundamentals of Drawing at A.C. Moore Arts & Craft and working on teaching Stop-Motion Animation at Gallery 116th www.facebook.com/Gallery116th

Giving away this illustration I drew when I was 14 years old to who ever donates more than $50.00 to my GoFundMe account this week. I only have two of them, one is a pencil illustration the other is an ink illustration. Donate to help me do an artist residency in Tokyo, Japan, learn how they create their Media Arts so I can create the North Carolina Media Arts standards at a Japanese Fine Art Technology Art level of thinking.
