Amsterdam Marathon for Ted
Donation protected
I am running the Amsterdam Marathon 2018 for the Ted Senior Foundation.
The usual statistics on mental health can be bandied around but the stark truth is that we are in a mental health crisis in the UK and suicide remains the biggest killer of men under 45.
On 10th February 2018 my little brother Rob lost one of his best friends, Ted Senior to suicide at the age of 22. Ted was one of the warmest and friendliest people I have had the pleasure of meeting and a fantastic friend and support to Rob. He had just started medical school and was at the start of living a life full of potential. To say this has devastated Rob and Ted's friends and family would be an understatement.
In response to this Rob has organised a fundraiser in the form of running the Amsterdam marathon on 21st October 2018. It is a testament to how many lives Ted touched that 48 people will be running with him including myself and my other brother James (with Mum on Team Coach duty!) We are aiming to raise a whopping £35,000 for the Ted Senior Foundation set up by Ted's brother Max to prevent tragedies like this happening again.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated!
Lastly if you are experiencing problems with mental health, know that you are not alone. If you are distressed yourself or you are concerned for someone else you can contact the following:
Samaritans 116 123 (freephone 24/7)
The Silverline 0800 4 70 80 90 (aged over 55, 24/7 freephone)
CALM Campaign Against Living Miserably 0800 58 58 58 (5 until midnight for men experiencing distressing thoughts or feelings)
Switchboard, the LGBT+ helpline 0300 [phone redacted] (10am until 11pm)
Nightline online website that offers free listening service to university students
