Jayshree's Long-Term Care Recovery

Donation protected
As of June 2020, Jayshree is home with her family and working on regaining her strength after the last few months' hardships. Thank you to everyone that supported her with this struggle!

______

Jayshree is AWAKE! After almost two weeks in a medically-induced coma, she's conscious and able to communicate. I'm (Christa) not too sure of specifics, but she's had a tracheotomy to replace the original ventilator tube to assist with breathing and seems to be on the mend.

Because of the amount of time taken with this whole process, Alex is under a lot of financial pressure and this GoFundMe is intended to help alleviate some of that stress for the family with regards to Jayshree's long-term care options, expenses for the family, and potential lost income of Alex because of his need to be present in supporting Jayshree's care.

HOW IT ALL STARTED:
2020 has been off to a rough start for Jayshree and the rest of her family.

After a few weeks of not feeling at 100%, a nagging cough-turned-pneumonia had Jayshree sent to the hospital (Baylor Scott & White in Pflugerville) on January 2.

On January 3, she was transferred to the ICU of St. David's North Austin Medical Center where she was put into a medically-induced coma, intubated, and was waiting on a blood transfusion.

It will be a few more days before she's conscious, and it'll likely be a few more weeks before there are real answers as to what is happening. There are suspicions that it's autoimmune related, but it's still too early to know confidently.

Anyone who knows Jayshree knows that she is a vibrant and loving person. This illness hit her hard and fast, and her loved ones are in shock with the quick progression it's made. Her absence is obvious, and the prayers and good thoughts are being sent her way from all over the world.

Between her Church efforts, her schooling, and her Smule hobby, Jayshree has touched so many people with her big heart and her generosity. So many of us feel helpless in the wake of this medical mystery she's currently fighting through, and we can't imagine the emotional and logistical strain this has also put on her family.

This GoFundMe has been set up to try and help to offset some of that pressure so Alex, Joseph, Noah, and Zippi can have one less thing to worry about while they sit beside their wife and mother and help her heal through this.
