Jay came home last week for Hailie's birthday and the twins last lacrosse game of the season. His Air Force career has kept him from living at home for the last three years. We are happy that he has finally gotten stationed at Hurlburt. When he got home laat week he had a pain in his ribs. He thought he had pulled a muscle in his abs during his PT test, but on Friday it got really bad. He ended up going to the hospital. They determined his liver was bleeding and admitted him to ICU. The doctors determined that the internal bleeding was being caused by a lesion on his liver. After a biopsy, it has been determined that he has Stage 4 Melanoma in his liver. His brain, bone, and tumor markers are negative. So it appears to just be in his liver. This is a reoccurrence from his melanoma in 08. His oncologist is waiting for more testing to determine the next course of action. His doc is optimistic, because he's young and in good shape. In the meantime the doctor wants him to gain weight. So, I'm am trying to feed him, as much as he will eat. Which isn't much. He is still in a lot of pain as the blood that is in his abdomen absorbs. He's very positive and is ready to kick it's ass. He keeps saying he's going to make lemonade out of the lemons life is giving him. He just hopes it has some sweet tea in it. He said call him the "Lemonade Man"
He has a long road ahead of him and all the love and support of his family and friends means the world to us. He wants everyone to know he loves them and can feel all the good vibes coming his way. I will keep everyone posted on his progress.
