Jason Rieder's Cancer Treatment

$27,135 of $40,000 goal

Raised by 206 people in 2 months
Created January 22, 2019
Jason was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer on November 14, 2018.  He went through additional tests at the beginning of January which showed that the cancer has also spread into his brain and lymph nodes.  Because Jason is a non-smoker, he has qualified for the oral chemo pill.  He has recently started with this treatment.  The current plan is that he will be able to undergo radiation treatment on his brain at some point in the future.

Jason will turn 49 in February of 2019.  He has worked at Wapicada Golf Club in Sauk Rapids, MN for 35 years.  He also has been giving golf lessons to junior golfers at Wapicada for 32 years.

Jason is the father of a young daughter.  Jenna is 13 years old and is in 7th grade.  Jason and his family are facing a tough road ahead while he fights this disease.  Due to the extreme costs of cancer treatment, we have created this account to try and raise money to help ease some of the financial burden to Jason and his family.

Friends and Family,

I would like to thank everyone for your support, prayers, and donations. Your overwhelming generosity is greatly appreciated. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to read the messages posted on the Go Fund Me website and the numerous get well cards that I have received.

I would also like to thank Brad Deyak and the Board of Directors at Wapicada for being very supportive of my continued employment at Wapicada on a part time basis and for helping me make the decision to get the word out to help with my medical costs. I need to cut back to part time because the cancer causes me to get tired very sporadically. Tessa Schommer wrote the original email to the members and the information on the Go Fund Me website about my illness. Lindsey Bell got the information out by sending the email to everyone. Thank you Tessa & Lindsey, for all of your help.

Here is an update on my health: I started taking an oral chemo pill on January 19. The results from my most recent scan showed that my lung spot has shrunk a little and some swollen lymph nodes have also shrunk a little. The cough that I have had since the end of July is basically gone. I just have a small cough every once in a while now. I am receiving great care from Dr. Jurgens at the Coborn’s Cancer Center. I continue to remain positive and look forward to seeing many of you this spring at Wapicada!

Your Friend,

Jason Rieder
