Jane’s hole in the heart fund
Donation protected
On Saturday 20th October, on a Compassion Home Visit we were taken to the home of Jane.
Jane’s mother shared how she has 4 young children (the youngest of which is a Compassion child). 2 of her children suffer with convulsions and Jane has just had hole in the heart surgery. She stood before us trembling as she shared that the surgery cost 1.8 million Kenyan Shillings, that she is now in debt for.
Jane’s Mom is unemployed and her Dad washes cars for a living. As Jane is not a Compassion sponsored child her medical expenses wouldn’t ordinarily be paid for. I asked whether there was anything at all that could be done - having met Jane, seen her scar and met her Mom doing nothing was not an option.
I was told that if I were to request an MI3 form and fill it in, if Compassion have guaranteed funds coming in for a particular cause they can direct any monies raised to this precious family.
I was torn between setting this campaign up now whilst so many people are wanting to give, or waiting for the paperwork to go through and risk losing momentum.
As monies raised will be considered specific giving, should the amount required for Jane be reached my intention would be to send any remaining monies to Compassion’s Medical Fund (this pays out for Compassion children that need medical interventions). I hope that is okay with you all.
Thank you to all that have said that you will join me in this. What must seem like an impossibility to this family is totally do-able with God and kind people such as yourselves.
Let’s do this!
