Please help us honor the life of Janelle Kara-Lee Johnson.
Daughter of Annete Edwards and Edwardo Johnson, step-daughter of Marjorie Johnson, Janelle's passions were education and helping the less fortunate in her native country of Jamaica through her donations of books, clothing and money.
It was very difficult for her to complete her college education because of her battle with her illness, Scleroderma. She would become so sick that she was forced to quit courses that she had started. It took her 6 years instead of 4 to finally earn a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management Information Systems from Florida Atlantic University. That was such a proud achievement for her.
She attended Kensington Primary School in St. Catherine, Jamaica , a public primary school that gives underserved communities quality education which rivals any private preparatory school in the country.
The Janelle Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund will help us provide an annual scholarship to two students entering high school - one underpriveleged student and one gifted student - where cost can be prohibitive. 100% of the proceeds from this collection will be donated to this Fund.
The Celebration of Life Service for Janelle Kara-Lee Johnson will be held at Gateway Church, 2130 NW 26th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 10 am. Interment will follow immediately at Forest Lawn Cemetary at 2401 Davie Road, Plantation, Florida 33317.
Arrangements are being handled by Unity Memorial Funeral Home East, Inc., 44 W. Michael Gladden Boulevard, Apopka, Florida 32703.
