JANE MCNAMARA'S CANCER BATTLE

Jane has a long history of fighting cancer. Her first cancer that she beat was cervical cancer in 1990. In 2001, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and, after chemo, a mastectomy, more chemo and then radiation, survived that cancer too. Jane is now battling a very aggressive Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma (UPS). It is the third bout since May, 2015. This cancer is 100% caused from the radiation treatment for her previous breast cancer. Jane is 1% of the population to get sarcoma from radiation. Two years ago Jane underwent a radical surgery to remove the first sarcoma from her chest wall area and then five months of vigorous chemotherapy. She has been watched closely since then at U of M where the second and now third sarcomas were diagnosed.

Jane is not only a devoted Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend, she is also a Mentor and Hero to so many. As many of you know, Jane owns two Jazzercise fitness franchises in Royal Oak and Troy. Jane has been giving back to the community since the year 2000 when she opened Royal Oak Jazzercise. Now she needs her community to help her because she is in the fight of her life battling this very aggressive form of cancer.

Jane is truly a warrior, but this battle is her biggest one yet and she needs HELP. Even with health insurance, her medical expenses are mounting and her treatments are extensive, further adding to the insurmountable debt. The financial worry and stress are taking a toll. We, Jane's family, are reaching out to you for help so that we can alleviate some of the stress so that she may concentrate on getting better.

Please share Jane’s story!
Thank you in advance from Jane and her family for any assistance you can offer. We will be forever grateful.

I’m sorry for not updating sooner. Especially since there is such good news to share. Jane had her first surgery to remove the tumor on January 3rd. This surgery was very successful. The tumor was removed with very good margins. Her second surgery was this past Monday January 8th. We were told it would be a 6 to 7 hour surgery in which she would be undergoing tissue grafting to fill the four inch hole left after removing tumor and affected tissue. Well I am here to tell you miracles do happen...at least that is how we her family look at it. The surgery only lasted two hours. No tissue grafting was needed and doctors were able to close her. She was able to leave hospital the day after surgery. Jane is cancer free and home recuperating. It will take several months before she’s completely able to resume her life as she knew it. We are all still reeling with this wonderful outcome. God is good. All of the prayers and support from each and everyone of you contributed to this outcome...so Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou. ❤️❤️❤️

Jane’s surgery yesterday went very well. All of the tumor was removed...Dr said it was pretty well contained. Waiting for pathology now to make sure margins are clear. I’m sure the power of all your prayers helped. She is in great spirits and her pain is managed. She will stay in the hospital until her next surgery on Jan 8th, and then approximately one week after that. Thank you again, and please keep the prayers coming.
Much love and gratitude from Jane

On this eve of Thanksgiving there is much to be thankful for in spite of this horrible affliction that Jane is going through. First and foremost, Jane and our entire family are thankful for all of you. Your prayers, donations and words of encouragement mean the world to us.

We are also thankful for the Jazzercise community who have held Jane up and have helped to keep her business going. Last Saturday they held a fund raiser for Jane at her Royal Oak fitness center...Dancing for Jane. They raised $11120 from their silent auction. I am still reeling from the generosity of the Royal Oak/Jazzercise community. I am posting some pictures from that event.

Now to the next step of treatment in her battle.
Jane will have to go through one more round of chemo starting the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The reason for this is stop the tumor from growing until her surgery date. Her surgery is scheduled for January 3rd. Again, tissue, skin and muscle compromised from the tumor will have to be removed. Also to make sure any rib is not affected as well. Another surgery will be scheduled after that to take tissue from another area of her body to help fill what has been removed. Also, if a rib has been affected it may have to be removed and another designed to replace it.
So please continue to pray, donate and keep those words of encouragement coming. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
