James Owens Family Fund

James Owens was a loving husband, wonderful father and devout friend, in addition to being a great football player and athlete. James, who truly embodied the spirit of what it means to be an "Auburn Man", was both a trailblazer and a legend. What he accomplished in life was done with dignity, grace, talent and humility. In memory of James, and what he stood for both on and off the football field, the Auburn University Football Program established the James Owens Courage Award. This award is given annually to a current or former Auburn football player who has displayed courage in the face of adversity, distinguishing himself while contributing to the betterment of Auburn University. More information regarding the award and James' career can be found through the following link - James Owens Award Overview 

James passed away on March 26, 2016 after battling congestive heart and kidney failure,  familial cardiac amyloidosis, neuropathy,  and degenerative discs in neck and back for many years. Due to James' declining health, he had been out of work for the last six years of his life. At the time of his passing, he had been receiving constant medical attention and was forced remain on an IV. The nature and length of his illnesses resulted in many procedures and expenses not covered by his insurance. The cost associated with his care has left a great burden on Gloria, his wife of almost 42 years.

This page has been establish as an avenue for anyone who would want to help and support the Owens family with this budget dilemma. All donations will be directed to his widow Gloria Owens to help underwrite medical bills and daily living expenses.
