James' Medical Journey Fund
We have talked to doctors all over the country to find out how to treat my tumor the safest way possible. I have learned that there are ways to treat it so that I can remain the person that I am today. I have consults set up to talk about alternative, natural medicine with naturopath oncologists. I may still use a piece of the traditional medicine (for example, chemotherapy), but in a lot lower dose and alongside treatments to keep my good cells healthy. These options are a lot safer. They build up my body to fight the tumor, vs tearing it down with the traditional treatments. I'm hoping to live at home or close to home but there is a good chance that I will have to travel out of state to be treated. No matter what treatment I choose and no matter where I go for treatment I'm going to be expected to pay thousands, several thousands. Our coinsurance is extremely high for in network and even higher for out of network. The FDA doesn't approve some of the forms of treatment, which means my health insurance doesn’t have to and won’t pay for anything considered “experimental” or “alternative”.
Mom and dad don't have time to plan a fundraiser for me. Dad is working every day, most weeks he’s working 7 days a week unless he goes to appointments with us. Mom is constantly researching and talking to doctors and nurses. I don't like the idea of asking for help but I have to so I can continue to be me. I am estimating that my out of pocket medical expenses are going to be at least $96,000 over the next couple months. My family has already spent over $15,000 and I am still looking for the right treatment. Anything that you can do to help me is very much appreciated, more than I can express.
