Clipped wings (a Statement by James Junes)

In March of 2017 I was experiencing some abdominal pains and did not really think much of it. We rush through life living in our “comfort zone”  and that is the place I was in.

As men we have a lot of pride, I’m no different. When we hear doctors say that you need a “colonoscopy”, we think “no” I’m not doing that! But, I knew that it was something I had to do.  I swallowed my pride and got the colonoscopy in December 2017. The colonoscopy revealed a quarter size growth in my colon (tublivinous adonoma).  Which means a growth that has the potential to be deadly if nothing is done.

I thought “ME? Why is this happening to me!”…Just as fast as I got diagnosed, I had to face major surgery, which was completed in February 2018. I know that “the growth” was not cancer (Stage 0 cancer), but serious enough it needed removal.

Now, I’m calling people back that hired (me, us) and letting them know I’m not going to be there.  In all the years I started in my own business, I have never had to call in and miss a gig.  It makes me sad because I’m very, very passionate about my work.

I know the bigger picture is going to be doing what I love for a long time. So, having the surgery was a must.  I’m a man of God, but I’m scared. My faith was Stretched thin, even to the point I questioned my God on so many “whys”.

The day of the surgery went well, but the recovery had several complications.  My stomach refused to get back to normal and things went south fast!  I ended back up in the ER a week after the surgery and doctors were sticking a tube up my nose and down into my stomach. Part of my stomach quit responding and caused a backup within my digestive system. Due to this complication, I ended up back in the hospital for another week and half, with no food or liquids such as water.

Present day, I am living on IV through a PICC line in my bicep. I’m feeling better inch by inch, but it has been trying to say the least.  I feel like my wings have been clipped and I can’t fly the way I once was.  I may be down and have a long road to recovery, but I’m not out. I keep praying not for just me. But for all those affected by all adversities.

Keep up the fight my relatives! Thank you to everybody that were and are there for me during this fight.

We appreciate everything and are very grateful for all the prayers!
