James' Cancer Fund
Here is the short version...
James has cancer and needs our help! At 28 years old, James is battling cancer for the fourth time. His hope is to participate in any Clinical Trials he is eligible for but that will likely require him to travel around the US to wherever those trials are being held. As you might imagine, this is an expense they aren't prepared for but will need to ensure the best available treatment for James. In happier news and against all odds, James and his girlfriend Taylor are expecting a daughter. Currently unable to work and with the stress of James' medical condition, they need our help to eliminate the extra worry of not being able to support their family.
And here is the long version...
In 2007, at 19 years old, James began his battle with testicular cancer. After being treated with chemotherapy, he became eligible for surgery to remove his testicle. He was told that he would likely not be able to have children. Over the next few years James underwent blood tests and cat scans every 3-6 months to monitor his cancer markers.
In 2010/2011, James’ markers went up and he had swollen lymph nodes in his back and a tumor in his lung. He was put on intense chemo treatment and the tumors from his back and lungs were surgically removed. James was given a Stem Cell Transplant to try to kill off any remaining cancers in his body. He spent the next 6 years seemingly cancer free.
In early 2016, his markers went up again and a cat scan revealed he had swollen lymph nodes in his neck. Another surgery, 9 more removed lymph nodes and 1 year later, James is continuing his battle. In late 2016, miraculously, he and his girlfriend Taylor learned they were expecting a baby and a few short months later they found out the baby is a GIRL! James lost his grandmother and his father in the same year from cancer and we so badly want to stop this nightmare.
On Feb 22, 2017, he was told he had three tumors in his lungs and a small cluster of swollen lymph nodes in his chest near his heart. Due to the location and size of his tumors no surgeon is willing to remove them. The following week James met with his primary cancer doctor, Dr. John Strothers, where he was told this was the most advanced his cancer has been. He was informed that chemo treatments were most likely not going to help him because despite already going through such intense treatments, the cancer continues to return. This is typically referred to as "mutated cancer" where it has essentially become immune to chemo and radiation treatments.
James's only real options are, “Clinical Trial Treatments.” He is going to be given very low dose chemo treatments with the intentions of keeping his cancer from spreading to his liver and brain until he is approved for a clinical trial. The type of cancer James currently has is undetermined at this point. He is scheduled for a biopsy on the largest tumor in his lung. After finding out what specific cancer he has, his doctor will be able to determine what trials James will be eligible for. Once they know exactly what cancer they are fighting, his trials will be set. It will also determine the possibility of James being freed of this. It is possible that James’ life will only be prolonged and that they won’t be able to kill his cancer. We are determined to give him the best chance. The up side is that James is not limited to only one clinical trial. If one does not work, he can sign up for another and keep going from there while getting low dose chemo treatments in between to help control the spread of cancer throughout his body. However, the down side is that these trials are all over America and some even outside of the U.S.
Being out of work and expecting a miracle daughter in just four short months, finances are their biggest limitation to James getting the help he so desperately needs. They are both so loved and his fight isn't over. We are so grateful for your love and support while he pushes through this. Anything helps and is so appreciated, there is no amount too small. Your prayers are also much appreciated! Thank you so much and God bless!
I have a little more news for you.
Today (July 15th) James' medical team came to the conclusion that radiation is not his best option. Because of the size and location of his tumor, they have decided surgery is the route they are going to go. His surgery is scheduled for 9:00am tomorrow morning to remove the mass. After that, he will take a few days to heal. Following the after math of his surgery they will begin radiation therapy to remove any left over fibers left behind. As of now, his tumors in his lungs are stable. Chemotherapy will begin once he gets through this obstacle.
One more thing... After a lot of time planning and dreaming of this day, James and Taylor are GETTING MARRIED and the wedding is happening today. It isn't fully what they were expecting, but so happy today is the day. We are so happy for their beautiful family and will continue to wait for more answers. Not a whole lot is for certain, but their love definitely is. ♡♡♡
Congratulations, Mr. And Mrs. Burns. We love you!!
I know it has been a while and I wish I would have kept you all updated a little better. I would like to start by saying that we are so grateful for your support before and we will continue to feel blessed with every ounce of prayer, love and support we continue to receive.
James has continued to fight his fight and the last couple weeks have been especially difficult.
I will give you the short version again first... They got news today, July 13th, that his cancer has spread to his brain and has a mass that is growing at a pretty rapid rate. He was admitted to a hospital immediately and is currently in a hospital in Portland. He is beginning radiation on his brain tomorrow morning in hopes of making it through this. James is unable to work and is living off of his disability benefits. Due to that, James' became ineligible for insurance. This also causes being eligible for further clinical trials very strenuous. He, Taylor and their sweet baby girl, Addison have had to give up their home and are living with Tay's mother. Unable to afford daycare and with James' inability to care for Addison full time, they are struggling to get though all of this.
Here is the longer version... James has spent his time being monitored and hoping to begin clinical trials. The good news is that, he was able to begin his first clinical trial about 8 months ago. The bad news is that he has participated in 2 clinical trials and on July 10th they received the news that his treatments have not been successful. His tumor has grown significantly and is starting to obstruct his trachea, which is causing his left lung to not function properly. There is also a smaller mass in his right lung. The plan at this point was to begin heavy dose chemotherapy to hopefully help shrink his tumor to help him breathe better for a little while longer. As of today, they received a call that James' MRI came back showing a large mass on his brain. They were told that without being admitted immediately, it was likely he would not make it through the weekend. the plan now is to begin radiation on his brain to reduce swelling in his brain .
All donations will be used for finances regarding James' medical bills and to help support their family during this time.
We are so so appreciative of your love, kind words, good vibes, and prayers as James, Taylor and their family continue to fight through this battle. We are so incredibly hopefully and we are not giving up a spec of positivey. He is way too much of a beautiful human being, father and soon to be husband to be done here.
We love you, James.
Thank you in advance for everything. We can never thank you all enough. I will be sure to keep everyone updated on his story, but what I know now, is that it's not over. ❤❤❤❤❤
Bring it on, Cancer.
Thank you so much to everyone sending love and support. This truly helps James more then you know. He is so overwhelmed having to go through this, all the love from family and friends truly is keeping his spirits up. James is such a blessing to all of our lives.
CANCER Share this. The results have been truly amazing. For cancer sufferers or people that know people with cancer- Ok.. This isn't going to taste great and you might not like the diet either but you do this and the cancer will go within 6 months or will massively reduce to a point where you will need to continue for a further 3 months but however, it will go. Step 1- 3 times a day for 2 weeks: You need two caps of apple cider vinegar, two caps of pure lemon juice and a cap of cranberry juice (not from concentrate) and a teaspoon of organic baking soda. Mix it with water in a half pint glass, down it ...do this 3 times a day, morning, lunch and dinner for the first two weeks. Step 2- Strictly no meat whatsoever, no dairy..you need a complete vegan diet whilst you are doing this and this is essential to stand by or the cancer won't even decrease. Strictly no alcohol whatsoever. After the first 2 weeks dosage of three times a day, you can then go down to twice a day for the foreseeable future. This will correct the alkaline level in your body which no disease can live in, I categorically promise you that. You follow those simple steps and it will disappear. Many doctors out there have lost their lives trying to get this information out in the public eye because people having cancer is a multi billion pound empire, they need you sick for profit. If you stick by this fully I promise it will go. After it's gone, continue to take the apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, cranberry juice mixed with water everyday..take away the baking soda. I do this daily, this will correct everything in your body from your glandular function to your digestive system..you'll never get heartburn,indigestion..everything will start to function at the right PH levels.. Also, stay well away from standard table salt (full of glass shards) and change to Himalayan pink salt. Strictly no processed foods. Up your intake of garlic/turmeric/onion/ginger ... You do all that, gone. And make sure you take activated charcoal every night before bed. Oh and of course, CBD oil will also help but lower the dosage when doing all the above.

Thank you so much to Mechanical II, for supporting my son through this very difficult time so generously. As his mother, I am so overwhelmed by the out pour of compassion that you have shown him, the support has given him so much to believe in, not to mention how much it has helped me. Your kind of generosity has made me realize, that miracles do happen and angels are all around, and for my son there is much hope, and as Mike said to me, my son is not alone in this, Mechanical II is a family company that stands by all of their employees. This is not my first Rodeo with James, and the one thing that I have seen through all of this, is, James can heal through prayer, courage, strength and hope, and these are all gifts that come from people like all of you at Mechanical II. So with that, I give all of you my deepest thanks and it was such an honor to meet so many wonderful people at the Benefit Dinner, I am truly blessed once again♥♥♥ James Mom
