JAM Studio
Donation protected
My name is Dre Towey, I am a Kindierocker and an art educator. I just turned my art & music studio, JAM, into a non-profit with hopes of providing a creative haven for the underserved children in our community. The money raised will pay for the first year of studio overhead (rent, electric, water, insurance), art materials and instruments.
Why a creative haven?
Seven years ago, JAM quietly opened its doors to the public. Thousands of children benefited from the hands-on, process oriented art and music which was Jam’s signature. Whether painting, singing, splatting, spinning, strumming or drumming-- children discovered that there was no limit to their creativity when their creativity was not limited. During this time I created a JAM outreach. The studio was in the ideal location to serve low income families. Children, teens and families came to us from The Open Door Shelter, Neon, The Housing Authority, The Carver Center and Family & Children Services. I hosted a Literary Arts Program for families as well as art, design, film classes and camps for children ages 7-14. It was during this time when I realized the true need for art and music in our community and the necessity for children to have a safe space to create, free of inhibition.
Now, as a 501c3, JAM is able to expand upon its art and music outreach, continue relationships with local organizations and invite more children and families to the new studio at little or no cost. Will you please help?
