My Name is Jake Yackle, I’m a Junior Cross Country MTB racer.
On July 22nd I completed the first step of my larger goal which is to be selected to compete in the 2020 or 2024 Olympic Games. I took 2nd place in the UCI Junior 17-18 XC National Championship Race. On July 30th I received an email from USA Cycling that I had been selected to race on Team USA in the UCI Junior 17-18 World Championships in Lenzerheide Switzerland.
I’ve spent a lifetime of riding bikes, including 11 years of racing to get to where I am now in my career. Even though my family has modest financial means they have committed all of their resources towards myself and my brother’s professional cyclist career dreams. On top of that because we never had enough resources my Dad created The Yackle Brothers Racing Team and he acquired many sponsors that provided the team with the basic bike components necessary for us to compete and keep our racing careers alive.
Still low on financial support our family cuts down on expenses wherever we can. We combine weekend after weekend of racing to form travel blocks where live out of our van for months at a time, while most others would board planes and make races into weekend trips. As you can see my family’s perseverance is what has allowed me to keep racing each year.
Like ever year after a full season of racing our budget has been exhausted and my family is financially unable to send me to Worlds. Me and my brothers racing career has always been possible because of the Big “team” surrounding us. Many of you probably don’t realize this but all of you which are friends on social media are part of our Big “team”, you help us to get and support our Team Sponsors and therefore you are already helping us accomplish our goal of becoming professional cyclists. I am reaching out to you, my “team”, for your support and your donation to help me cover the expenses needed to get to the World Championships!
