Jake's Emergency Lifesaving Ops

Donation protected

I moved to New Zealand from Scotland 5 days ago & was told yesterday that our family pet cat of 6 years, Jake, was hit very hard by a car outside our house. My mum Lesley witnessed it from metres away before the driver sped off, leaving her to reach Jake & see the horrific, graphic damage. Although she was in shock, she raced to our local vet then a hospital in Glasgow City Centre. Jake's face has suffered horribly with a broken jaw & battered right side; likely leading to a loss of sight in that eye (& hopefully not both). He has also lost a lot of blood & potential kidney damage, as well as any other minor injuries. However, he is alive & been eating a little, but needed several treatments to continue living.

My mum Lesley & her partner Derek endured immense shock & trauma at seeing, hearing & handling this  emergency but are unfortunately also paying  thousands on medical expenses (I commend them for it). Jake is loved by them so much & is a special, friendly pet to us, so the decision was made to give him a chance at survival & hope he can continue to be a fun, happy animal, who will receive the love he has before.
Jake succesfully came through surgery to wire his jaw & face for 6 weeks but we await the news on his eyes & other injuries. The cost of his operations & subsequent monitoring & after care has reached 4 figures.

Hence, I've set this fundraiser up on my own to support my mum & Derek from 18, 000 miles away. Your generous funds will help my family afford the expensive medical bills related to this accident, and lessen the impact of such an already painful & unforgettable experience for my mum. I can't thank you enough in advance for even the smallest donation in supporting us & please know that you're contributing to saving a very special animal's life, plus all of our mental & financial recovery, with our without Jake! Thank you so so much!

***Latest news is that Jake is home but has had a blood transfusion & still has a lot of healing to do for his jaw, eye, kidneys - and the unknown of how he will be back home. It's very sad, but thanks to your help we could boost his chance of survival. Thank you so much.
