What is Light Up The Dark?
Mission: Breaking chains. Liberating souls. Empowering lives.
Vision: People empowered to light up the world, freed to be who they were designed to be, as a result of authentic relationship with the living God.
We are real people with real stories who want to light up the dark by speaking life. Light Up The Dark speaks life in six main ways: speaking to faith-based groups, schools, and organizations; life coaching and mentoring; writing online devos as well as paperback books and other resources; equipping people who want to reach out with the skills they need to make a difference and coordinating their skill sets with the outlets they need to be the Light; partnering with other ministries; and hosting Light Up The Dark events.
Light Up The Dark is formed around the purpose of spreading the Light of Christ into the darkness in order to empower people trapped in that darkness to connect to resources to secure freedom for them. We know that everyone can receive light and everyone can give it…..you can have a full time job and a family and still light up the dark. Light Up The Dark is structured to make that happen…to connect people with truth and to connect people who want to spread truth with the outlets to do so.
Darkness can take many forms: addiction, assault, abuse, depression/anxiety, self-harm, the daily stresses of life, lack of direction and purpose, and the daily stresses of relationships, occupations, marriages, and parenting. Light can take many forms too. We coordinate volunteers with opportunities to serve through our ministry as well as those we partner with. We offer classes with curriculum approved by the Department of Children and Family Services so that families can become reunited. We give out care kits for women and men who have experienced assault or molestation, with resources for healing. These are just a few examples of many tangible ways that we physically touch the dark with Light.
