Team India/Bharat - Jagriti Kumari
Tax deductible
Jagriti is18 years old. She has one focus: training for floorball competition! Her family must make it a priority as well, since her training and transportation can cost 150 rupees; her father earns 250 per day. She and her family of four live in a small hut without water; Jagriti joined Special Olympics last year in a hope to improve her skills and she has already discovered new strengths. She communicates mostly through sign language but has already made important new friends through the Unified Floorball team. These include Aditya -- a wise-beyond-his-years Unified teammate, who also lives in an impoverished area. Aditya, age 17, says he has learned a lot about the world of abilities through Unified Sports; He also learned what sports can mean to athletes like Jagriti: it ʺpulls them out from obscurity, highlighting their abilities.ʺ
