Jade Elizabeth Klein is the daughter of Joey Klein and Jennifer Marrone. She also happens to be my Goddaughter/Niece and, while I may be a bit bias, she is one of the strongest little girls I know. She is a beautiful soul with a smile that brings sunshine on a cloudy day. She is hilarious and fun loving and has such a truly amazing heart. She just wants to see the world smile!!
Sadly this beautiful, talented, and incredible young lady has had a very difficult life in her short 8 years. At 3 years of age, Jade was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and has been on insulin multiple times a day ever since. She’s never been able to enjoy the treats and snacks that other kids her age take for granted every day. She has had to be on a strict diet as well as make sure she is constantly monitoring her blood sugar throughout the day.
Sadly, Jade’s difficulties only began with the diabetes however. This past Christmas, Jade had been suffering with severe migraines, blurry vision and a host of other just “icky” symptoms. In January of this year, she was diagnosed with a large tumor on her optical nerve, near her brain, called “Optic Nerve Melanocytoma Giloma”. She has been going through chemo therapy treatments that were not supposed to have the side effects that they unfortunately have had, so much so, that they are now considering changing her chemo dosages. Her beautiful blonde hair has begun falling out and as you can imagine, she has been very sensitive about this. She tries so hard to keep her smile, but the hair loss and extreme anxiety spells have taken over her little body.
Jade is a fighter at heart and I know she is going to come out on the other side of this awful period of her life stronger, even more loving and with a brighter spirit because of this.
Jade’s parents and family are all doing everything they can to care for her, but due to time off of work, medical expenses, etc., I wanted to do something to not only help them as a family, but one of Jade’s biggest wishes is to have an in-ground pool with a waterfall in her yard and if there is anyone that deserves to have some wishes granted right now, it’s her.
It’s amazing how easy it is to focus on our own small daily problems that we seem to make bigger than they really are, all the while, children around the world, and right here in our own communities and families are suffering. I am coming to you with my heart in hand asking you all as my friends, colleagues and family to help me to give this little girl a beautiful summer dream. Thank you all so very much. I assure you, this will mean the world to her little heart as well as mine.
