Jacob's Road to Recovery

On Wednesday evening, March 13, our 24-year-old nephew, Jacob Geiger, was out for an evening motorcycle ride when a truck swerved into his lane causing a massive collision.

Jacob sustained massive injuries including a fractured spinal column. He is currently suffering paralysis from the waist down.

Here is the good news: Jacob is a born fighter. He served in the US Marines as a Corporal Radio Operator. He has military training and grit, youth, and a brilliant mind and spirit. His road to recovery will be the challenge of a lifetime and require all that he can muster even with giant doses of hope, love, and support from family and friends.  

The financial costs will be steep. Much of the emergency care he is currently receiving is covered by insurance; however, the best facility for his injuries is not in Texas. Costs like transporting him out of state and the 60-day rehabilitation facility in Colorado will be only partially covered or not covered at all. 

We are asking for support from our community to help by contributing to this GoFundMe site – every dime, both small and large will go directly to Jacob’s medical costs. Any contribution in any amount will be appreciated beyond measure – please consider if you have the means. 

This is a long-term battle but the next 180 days will be the most important rehabilitation days that Jake will encounter. He will need to adjust to his new way of life and the rehab facility is going to ensure he gets the best quality of life possible. 

Every day he wakes up in that hospital bed is a miracle for his family and the unimaginable journey he is moving through will require more strength than most of us have marshaled in our lifetime…
