On Sunday, September 27th, 2015, I will be running the Chicago 1/2 Marathon with the team "Run Domestic Violence Out of Town."
Most of you know I work for a domestic violence agency - Family Rescue as the Program Coordinator for the Court Advocacy Program. Working in the field of domestic violence has always been a passion of mine, but most importantly, it truly has been my calling in life.
Day to day, I work out of the 003rd District Chicago Police Department Domestic Violence Unit & at the Domestic Violence Courthouse at 555 W. Harrison. I assist victims and survivors with obtaining police reports, filing for orders of protection, court accompaniment, safety planning, emotional support and counseling. I actively collaborate with the 003rd District Domestic Violence Officer and the Community Policing Office to provide resources to high-risk communities with the goal of eliminating violence.
I am dedicating this marathon to my late Grandmother - Mildred (Mastronardi) Doup, a survivor! Thank you for your love and dedication to your family. I will continue to do the work that I do in her memory - in hopes that one day the home can be free from violence.
Please help me raise money to support the following Chicago Domestic Violence agencies who never stop providing safe housing, counseling, legal advocacy, and supportive services to victims/survivors from all over the world!
